Man guns down parents, brother in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: A man gunned down his parents and younger brother in a Tower Enclave locality under Lambra police station of Jalandhar Rural Police in Punjab on Thursday late evening.
Police officials who reached the spot said that accused Harpreet Singh fired at his father Jagbir Singh, mother Amritpal Kaur and brother Gagandeep Singh and fled after killing them.
DSP Balbir Singh, who rushed to the spot along with other officials, said that preliminary information suggested that the accused used his father’s two weapons who worked as a security guard.
“Neighbors said that there was tension in the family and they would hear altercations,” he said, adding that it appeared to be a poor family, just managing to make both ends meet.
Neighbors said that on Wednesday also they heard an altercation.
Police officials said that the real reason for the murders would be known after the arrest of the accused.
